strandberg steals the show at silverstone

This weekend 2018 season kicked off with a bang!

Flying over on Thursday to meet the British rain. But waking up Friday was just wet and not raining witch is always good. Friday was free practise and due to a problem with the turbo Dennis didnt get out inte the first 2 sessions leaving just one left of the day. Just before last session the team had the car up and running again and could send Strandberg out on track. With a really wet track and alot of trafic there was not much space to do alot but was good to get a couple of laps in the car.

Saturday was better. The team preped the car to its maximum ahead of qualifying. Dennis got out for qualifying and held p4 for long. But managed to put the Scirocco on pole on the last lap. 0.1 seconds to p2.

Starting race 1 from P1 in the wet with a great start got Dennis in to a 6 seconds lead after 14 laps. But it wouldnt be a light to flag victory because of a clutch issue on lap 15 giving Dennis a hard time to get in the gears. This cost Strandberg the lead for a couple of corners after finding out staying in 4th gear works best and he managed to get back to the lead and win with 0.3 seconds to Jamie Bond and a big gap down to p3.

Race 2 started from p6 because of reversed grid. Dennis got a good start and was up to p4 going in to the first corner. and getting up to p3 on lap 2 with Jamie Bond sailing away in the lead and ex BTCC driver Martin Depper just in front. Strandberg and Depper fought hard for a couple of laps causing Bond to get a good lap to the fight about 2nd. Dennis got ahead of Martin and the pair started working together and started catching Bond. With 3 laps to go Strandberg passed Bond for the lead and had a hard time fighting off a fighting Depper the last couple of laps. But again Dennis managed to win with 0.3 seconds.

With Pole Position, 2 race wins fastest laps leaves Dennis with a 18 points lead. Next race is later in April at Rockingham.
